HoldADate
Privacy policy
Last updated: 1 October 2026
HoldADate (“the app”) is offered by MvH Atelier (“we”). This privacy policy describes how we handle information in connection with the app.
1. What data do we process?
The app puts possible dates in your existing calendar as temporary holds. In broad terms:
- Holds, titles and date options stay on your device. There is no HoldADate account and no upload to us. We do not keep a copy of your calendar.
- You choose what comes in: a screenshot, a scan, a link or a piece of text. The app does not read your chats.
- Screenshots and camera scans are read on the device with on-device text recognition. No image goes to a server.
- If you paste a poll link, such as Datumprikker or Doodle, the iPhone downloads that page itself to read the dates. That download does not go through our server.
- Apple Calendar stays on the device. The app reads availability and only creates or removes the holds you make.
- Google Calendar is optional. If you connect it, the iPhone talks to Google directly. The sign-in tokens stay in the keychain on your device. We do not sit in between and we do not receive your calendar.
- We do not sell your data and we do not use it for personalised advertising or tracking through this app.
Ten holds are free. After that, a subscription (year or month) is billed by Apple or Google. They process the payment under their privacy policy. We do not receive full payment card details, and we do not see your holds because of that payment.
2. What do we use data for?
- To provide the app’s functionality: reading dates you share, placing temporary holds in your calendar, removing those holds, and local reminders.
- To make the subscription after the free holds possible through Apple’s or Google’s payment system.
3. Retention
Holds that exist only on your device stay there until you remove them in the app or delete the app. We do not host a server for your holds.
An iPhone backup can include holds. Google Calendar events you created stay in your Google account until you remove them.
4. Sharing with others
A hold is an event in your own calendar. That is the point of the app. We do not receive that event, and we do not share its contents with advertising networks.
If you connect Google Calendar, Google processes that calendar data under Google’s privacy policy. Apple or Google may also process data as part of the store and payment process (for example when you subscribe). See their privacy policy for that.
5. Security
We aim to build the app according to common practice for iOS. Data on your device is covered by your device’s security (passcode, Face ID, and so on). Google sign-in tokens stay in the keychain.
6. Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example in the European Economic Area), you may have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection and data portability. Because the holds sit on your device, you can also manage them directly by deleting holds in the app, disconnecting Google Calendar, or deleting the app.

7. Changes
We may update this policy. The “Last updated” date at the top will then change. After important changes, you may need to read the policy again.
