TakeAQR
Privacy policy
Last updated: 12 October 2026
TakeAQR (“the app”) is offered by MvH Atelier (“we”). This privacy policy describes how we handle information in connection with the app on iPhone, iPad and Android.
1. What data do we process?
The app reads QR codes and barcodes on your iPhone, iPad or Android phone. In broad terms:
- Scans you keep stay locally on your device. There is no account and no upload to us.
- The camera is used to read codes. A photo from your library can be scanned on the spot. Both stay on the device. We do not upload the photo.
- A look at a link (HTTPS, short links, odd hosts, tracking parameters) happens on the device. Those are hints, not a safety seal. We do not send the address to us.
- Wifi passwords are not saved in the scan list by default. If you choose to save one, it stays on the device with that scan.
- We do not sell your data and we do not use it for personalised advertising or tracking through this app.
- A code can contain personal data, including other people’s (a phone number, an email, a contact card, a wifi password). We do not receive it. The app is not meant to send special categories of personal data to us on purpose.
Ten scans are free on Android. Three scans are free on iPhone and iPad. After that, a yearly subscription is billed by the store you use. On iPhone and iPad that is Apple. On Android that is Google Play. Apple or Google processes the payment under their own privacy policy. We do not receive full payment card details, and we do not see your scans because of that payment.
2. What do we use data for?
- To provide the app’s functionality: reading a code, showing what is in it, keeping a local history, and copying, sharing, calling or opening only when you tap.
- To make the yearly subscription after the free scans possible through Apple’s payment system on iPhone and iPad, or through Google Play on Android.
3. Retention
Scans that exist only locally on your device stay there until you delete them in the app or delete the app. We do not host a server for your scans.
On iPhone and iPad the scan history is excluded from iCloud Backup. On Android it is excluded from Android backup. Settings that stay in the app, such as how many free scans you have used, remain on the device. A backup you make of the device yourself, for example through a computer, can still copy the files.
4. Sharing with others
A scan leaves the device only when you share it, copy it, or open a link, a call, a message or mail. That is you sending a copy or starting that action. We do not get it, and we do not share the contents with advertising networks. Nothing opens by itself.
Apple may process data as part of the App Store and payment process (for example when you subscribe). On Android, Google may process data as part of Google Play and the payment process. See Apple’s or Google’s privacy policy for that.
5. Security
We aim to build the app according to common practice for iOS and Android. Data on your device is covered by your device’s security (passcode, Face ID, fingerprint, and so on).
6. Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example in the European Economic Area), you may have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection and data portability. Because the scans sit locally on your device, you can also manage them directly by deleting scans in the app or deleting the app.

7. Changes
We may update this policy. The “Last updated” date at the top will then change. After important changes, you may need to read the policy again.
