TakeAScan
Privacy policy
Last updated: 23 September 2026
TakeAScan (“the app”) is offered by MvH Atelier (“we”). This privacy policy describes how we handle information in connection with the app.
1. What data do we process?
The app is meant to scan documents on your device and keep them as a PDF. In broad terms:
- Scans, pages and PDFs you create stay locally on your device. There is no account and no upload to us.
- The camera is used to scan. Photos from your library can be added as pages. Both stay on the device.
- We do not read your documents, summarise them or index them. There is no cloud AI and no document model with us. Filters stay on the device.
- We do not sell your data and we do not use it for personalised advertising or tracking through this app.
- Documents you scan may contain personal data, including other people’s. We do not receive it. The app is not meant to send special categories of personal data to us on purpose.
Three PDFs are free. After that, a subscription (year or month) is billed by Apple or Google. They process the payment under their privacy policy. We do not receive full payment card details, and we do not see your documents because of that payment.
2. What do we use data for?
- To provide the app’s functionality: scanning, cropping, rotating, filtering, and keeping a PDF on your device.
- To make the subscription after the free PDFs possible through Apple’s or Google’s payment system.
3. Retention
PDFs that exist only locally on your device stay there until you delete them in the app or delete the app. We do not host a server for your documents.
TakeAScan PDFs are excluded from iCloud Backup and from Android cloud backup. A backup you make of the device yourself, for example through a computer, can still copy the files.
4. Sharing with others
Files leave the device only when you share, export, or save them somewhere else. That’s you sending a copy. We do not get it, and we do not share the contents with advertising networks.
Apple or Google may process data as part of the store and payment process (for example when you subscribe). See their privacy policy for that.
5. Security
We aim to build the app according to common practice for iOS and Android. Data on your device is covered by your device’s security (passcode, Face ID, and so on).
6. Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example in the European Economic Area), you may have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection and data portability. Because the documents sit locally on your device, you can also manage them directly by deleting PDFs in the app or deleting the app.
For requests that belong with us: website@mvhatelier.com.
7. Changes
We may update this policy. The “Last updated” date at the top will then change. After important changes, you may need to read the policy again.
